About Us
Our Pet Sitting Philosophy
At K-9 Kats, it has always been our belief that pets are more than just companions; they are our friends, our family and, in a sense, our teachers. It is this reasoning that sets K-9 Kats apart from other pet sitting services. For our Team it isn’t just a dog walk or a visit with your cat. Instead, we encourage our Team of pet sitters to become part of your extended family. The K-9 Kats' Team always takes the time to form a connection and strong bond with your pet(s). This is what we believe pet sitting is truly about.

Having a Pet Sitting Team That Feels Like Family
"I expect to pass through this world but once. Any good therefore that I can do, or any kindness or abilities that I can show to any fellow creature, let me do it now. Let me not defer it or neglect it, for I shall not pass this way again."
– William Penn
The "Tail" of K-9 Kats
20 Years & Counting!
K-9 Kats opened in 2004 when owner Charlotte Marquardt realized that there were very few pet sitting services that provided individualized pet care in the Los Angeles area. At that time most pet sitting services only offered group dog walks, and there were limited options for smaller household pets. Charlotte was an avid traveler and had many rescue pets that needed to be looked after while she was on vacation. Like many pet parents, she was not comfortable having her neighbors, friends, family or hobbyists care for her fur babies. Furthermore, Charlotte also had many special needs pets. It was then that she realized her calling. The pet world needed a pet sitting service that could cater to pets that needed one on one attention and that could meet the high expectations of pet parents that were as lovingly doting and devoted as herself.

Charlotte now has a Team of professionally trained sitters working alongside her.
Get To Know Naomi Charlotte
Naomi Charlotte Marquardt, K-9 Kats’ owner and devoted pet lover, was born and raised in Los Angeles. She comes from a long line of animal lovers and caregivers. Her mother worked as a vet technician at Shenandoah Veterinary Clinic, McHenry Burns Veterinary Clinic, and Dr. Shipps Animal Hospital. Her aunt and uncle worked at California Animal Hospital before going on to own an emergency animal hospital in Pennsylvania. Her other aunt, Judy Daniels, whom Charlotte worked under for 4 years, owned her own pet sitting service, Kitty Sitz & Doggie Walkz in Los Angeles.

At the age of nineteen, Charlotte began animal rescue work and was responsible for the trapping, spaying, neutering, and adoption of over eighty stray cats with the help of Stray Cat Alliance. Due to these charitable actions, she was presented Best Friends Animal Sanctuary Mini and Piffi Award sponsored by Wolfgang and Maria Petersen. She was also awarded the Certificate of Valor by The Animal Guardian Society.

It goes without saying that Charlotte was destined to work in the field of animal care. She is a certified cat behavior specialist through Animal Behavior Institute. She is also an incredible pet mom to 4 cats, 1 dog and 3 fish. She prides herself in running a female operated and nationally recognized company.

Mirian H.
Mirian was born and raised in Italy. Growing up she had many dogs as pets. Later in life she started volunteering at different feline organizations and sanctuaries. She became very interested in working with cats. Her goal was to educate the public on common misconceptions about cats and to help keep them out of shelters. During this time she became certified as a Feline Behavior Specialist through Animal Behavior Institute. To further enhance her skill set, she also took courses in Feline Psychology, Nutrition and First Aid. She is also trained in administering medical injections to pets. She has 5 cats and she loves them to pieces. She is at her happiest when she is working with pets. We are delighted to say that Mirian has been an expert team member at K-9 Kats since October of 2021.
Julia C.
Julia grew up in San Diego. She moved to LA in 2019 to go to school for film making. In addition to volunteering at her local animal shelter, she has also worked at a dog boarding hotel, and she has cared for a variety of pets, such as lizards and piglets. There is no animal too small or too large that she doesn’t love. Over the years, she’s been the proud pet parent of numerous animals, including; birds, turtles, cats, dogs, hamsters and fish. Julia has been an amazing sitter and team player with K-9 Kats since July of 2021. She is committed to providing our clients’ furry, feathery, finned and scaly babies with the highest quality of love, care, and attention that they each deserve.
Emily G.
Emily is an LA native. She currently attends Cal Poly Pomona and is majoring in Pre-Vet/Veterinary Science, studying to become a veterinarian. In the future, she plans on working with all animals from felines to canines, exotics to horses. She has a very big heart for animals. She and her family have 4 dogs, 1 cat, hamsters, and chickens. Pets have taught her a lot and she loves bonding with them and earning their trust. She knows how important it is for pets to feel safe, for them to not only get the essentials they need but to also receive loving care and nurturing. She really enjoys photographing pets and capturing every moment; from daily walks, to funny habits, to them playing and being goofy, to their happy tail wags. She is the newest addition to the K-9 Kats’ Team and has been with us since May of 2023.
